Borassus Palm Borassus flabellifer

Its useful vegetation and fruit has accompanied inventive peoples in much of the world, being used to produce paper in ancient times and the jaggery spirit known as Arrack that richly flavored  the early colonial-era punches. Its broad leaves can be seen adorning the entrance to Cambodia’s Angkor Wat temple.
